BlueSky thinking from Langstane

BlueSky Systems Solutions Limited has announced that Langstane will move to Horizon software.

Langstane is Scotland’s leading independent office consumables, furniture and print supplier with a turnover approaching £22 million. They have sites in Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh and will go live with Horizon and Horizon Web on the 4th May.

Derek Blood, BlueSky’s Commercial Director said “We are delighted that Langstane has decided to join the ever increasing community of dealers using Horizon. This clearly demonstrates that we are fast becoming the market leading system for Office Products dealers”.

The approach that Langstane is taking by putting together an implementation plan with BlueSky over several months, culminating with the May live date, provides them with a smooth migration plan.

The implementation plan and training provisions that have been put in place will also ensure that BlueSky’s service to existing customers will not be affected in anyway.

Langstane has decided to adopt the “train the trainers” approach. A number of Langstane staff have been nominated as “champions” within the business enabling BlueSky to deliver both onsite and online training.

Mike Glennie, Langstane’s I.T. Manager said “Having been with our current software house for over 15 years, we felt the time was right to visit the marketplace to evaluate the various back-office system packages out there. We wanted to find, if possible, a package that would allow us to be more efficient, adaptable to our requirements, user friendly and be able to utilise the technology that is available to us today in our everyday working environments.”

He continued, “Every area of our business will be affected by the change to our back-office system. Any new software house had to prove their commitment to such a project and their desire to build a solid relationship between our companies. In BlueSky and Horizon we feel we have found such a company and product. We look forward with enthusiasm to the challenges that await us over the next few weeks.”

Universal switches to BlueSky

Universal Office Products (UOP), Yorkshire’s largest independent office products dealer, has moved to BlueSky's Horizon back office software.

UOP's Mark Broadbent says: ”Having been with our previous provider for over five years, we felt the time was right in order to achieve our aggressive growth strategy to re visit the marketplace in an effort to find a platform capable of managing our business requirements going forward.

"Having previously operated on individual platforms for our Universal B2B and StationeryFix.com businesses we deemed it imperative that we brought all aspects of our operation collectively together to bring greater efficiencies and transparency.

“This change is equal to that of changing our main wholesaler such is the importance of selecting the right partner. In choosing BlueSky I believe they have clearly demonstrated their desire to meet our brief on all fronts as we enter this pivotal period of growth. I look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for both parties”
